“You worthless piece of sh*t, you should jump off that building and it would be a huge favor to the world. “

Saying that sentence to a 10-year old boy might be the most harm you could possibly do to him, (might as well be the reason for a lost life, if anything to guess) but the same thing might not have the same kind of impact on a 30-year old man. Not to say this will still be very unpleasant for him to hear, But not in the same capacity as the 10-year old boy. The man will most probably have the emotional maturity to understand the situation or the anger that the speaker has while uttering those hateful words.

And that is the very crux of censorship.

For those who understand the significance of the words or acts and their impact on the society will always be able to comprehend the meaning behind the blacked out/hidden words/acts. But the content needs to be censored for those who would lack the empathy or fail to understand the depth of effect that such acts/words could have on them or the people around them.

There is always an argument against censorship on terms of freedom of speech, or for the true depiction of creativity/art. But when you have a nation to run the behavior of the larger society and people’s sentiments are of a prior importance.

Hate speech or disrespectful behavior is something that we do not want to promote in the society. Media is a very powerful tool that can influence someone's ideas. So just a single word that the society does not yet fully understand can give in to misinterpretation; which can lead to unhealthy behavior.

As they say a great power is not dangerous itself, but it becomes dangerous in the hands of a man who does not fully understand its true nature.

Based on the society we live in, we must be able to comprehend if people have a cultural system of beliefs that makes them tolerant of certain acts or speeches in order to decide if it should/not be censored. for example the French have a censor rating of 12+ on nudity/abuse while for a younger society as India or china the same standards are at 18 years of age.
